Preventative Dentistry

There's so much more than examining your teeth to ensure a healthy oral cavity. At our comprehensive exams, you will have your TMJ joints, lymph nodes, and bite pattern examined. We will also obtain and review x-rays with you to look at the teeth and jaw bones. An oral cancer screening will be carried out as well to verify oral health. Lastly, we will perform a full periodontal exam to properly diagnose any gum disease 

Not every cleaning is equal. At Duhon Dental, we will tailor your dental cleaning to your needs. We provide prophylaxis cleanings for patients with healthy gums, as well as deeper cleanings for those patients who have periodontal disease and require tartar and plaque to be removed from under the gums. We also provide a complimentary flush of antibiotic rinses around implants at all of our cleaning appointments.  

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral which can help prevent tooth decay, slow it down, or stop it from getting worse. Although there is already fluoride in Pinellas county's water as well as in toothpaste, our fluoride treatments offer a higher concentration which can only be provided by a licensed professional. Our treatments normally only take a few minutes and might be applied as a gel, foam, or varnish. Depending on your oral health, we might recommend fluoride treatments every 6 to 12 months. 

 Sealants are thin coatings that when painted on the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (premolars and molars) can prevent cavities for many years. Sealants are typically added to teeth during childhood but will often need to be replaced as adults.
