Born and raised in Louisiana, Dr. Megan is a proud Louisiana State University "Tiger," becoming an alumna from their School of Dentistry in 2021. She is enjoying her personal mentorship with Dr. Tony, who has been teaching her various implant and bone grafting techniques. Dr. Megan has also taken continuing education courses in endodontics in order to provide molar root canals to patients, a procedure most general dentists refer to specialists. She is currently working to become a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists as well as a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, a feat achieved by only six percent of dentists.
Dr. Megan met her husband, Dr. Gerard "Gerry" Scannell while attending LSU School of Dentistry. Following graduation, she moved to Gerry's hometown of St. Pete to be close to family. Her favorite thing is spending time with Gerry and their family, particularly their two small nieces. She's looking forward to having children of her own in the future. In the meantime, she's enjoying caring for their black lab Macks and their cat Harper.
Dr. Megan also enjoys painting, reading, hiking, and cooking. A true Cajun woman, Dr. Megan can make any authentic Cajun dish including gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, and "dirty rice." Dr. Megan is often being heard telling patients "food is my love language" and she enjoys trying new foods and learning new recipes.
